S01 E22: Versatility of Omega 3 Fats – Karla Schmidt

The ALL ME® Podcast

Versatility of Omega 3 Fats

If you heard the word Omega 3, what would be the first thing that comes to mind? Would you think about a Fish Oil Supplement you were recommended to take by your doctor, that salmon you love in your sushi, or that can of sardines your buddy tells you he has for lunch or is that one time when you had Fish Burps after taking supplements and wanted to cringe. When I hear fish oil I think versatility as I consider it the Swiss army knife of nutrients due to the various benefits.

In this episode, I speak with Karla Schmidt, Certified Nutritionist and Field Education Manager for Nordic Naturals to discuss all things related to fish oil. We’ll cover the benefits of Omega 3, why Fish Burps may mean you’re not taking a good quality fish oil, the difference between EPA and DHA (the 2 key essential fatty acids in omega 3), Omega 3 Index test, and why plant based omegas may not be doing you much good.
