South Africa: High school left shocked after rugby player caught with steroids
A South African high school has been rocked by news that one of its rugby players is leaving after being caught with steroids. Enrolled at EG Jansen, a high school located near Pretoria, the unnamed 16-year-old male student was caught in possession of steroids last week after a member of the public notified the school of a ‘suspicious looking deal’ with an unidentified person. A subsequent investigation found two pupils, including the player, with drugs in their possession. SARugbymag.co.za has reported that the boy was set to take part in 1st XV trials later this month. “He played a few games for the second and third teams, but his interest in sport dwindled towards the end of the season,” EG Jansen principle Leon de Beer told SARugbymag.co.za. “His friend did not take part in any school sports.” Beer said the pair had been suspended pending a disciplinary hearing scheduled to take place next week, but confirmed that parents of the rugby player had already withdrawn him from the school. http://tvnz.co.nz/rugby-news/high-school-left-shocked-after-player-caught-steroids-6229110
