Pharmacist almost loses license after dispensing steroids
A GP who was reprimanded for inappropriately prescribing steroids to a body builder has almost cost a young pharmacist his registration. Â
Simon Booy received a suspended suspension to his registration as a pharmacist after dispensing drugs, despite his concerns about Dr Peter Joseph Grant's prescribing practices. Â A Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal heard that Dr Grant had prescribed a combination of drugs to a number of patients involved in competitive body building. Â He told the tribunal he was aware the drugs could be bought over the internet, but said there was a risk that such purchases could be impure, and by prescribing them he could ensure his patients received pure drugs.
