Czechoslovakia: Czech gang selling anabolic steroids uncovered
Prague, Feb 6 (CTK) – Detectives from the Czech National Anti-Drug Centre (NPC) have uncovered an organised group that was selling anabolic steroids and substances with hormonal effect, spokeswoman Barbora Kudlackova told journalists Friday. These were mainly fakes carrying a health risk, Kudlackova said. The suspicion relates to the shipment of the substances from Slovakia to the Czech Republic and some more European countries. Kudlackova said the illegal trade in the substances was massive. There were various chemicals and ampoules for injections into muscles, she added. The “drug hunters” want to elaborate on the case along with representatives of the State Institute for Drug Control (SUKL) and the Czech Anti-Doping Committee at a press conference on Monday. SUKL spokeswoman Lucie Sustkova told CTK Friday that the institute had received 148 specimens for analysis from the NPC. A part of the analyses is finished, the work on the rest is continuing. If convicted, the members of the organised group may be sentenced up to 12 years in prison. Customs officers, too, have uncovered this type of cases. Last September, they detained two illegal consignments with anabolic steroids worth over 2.5 million crowns. http://praguemonitor.com/2015/02/09/czech-gang-selling-anabolic-steroids-uncovered
