Don Hooton

President

Don serves as President of the Taylor Hooton Foundation. He and his family founded the Taylor Hooton Foundation in 2004, the year following the loss of their son Taylor.Since founding this organization, Don has become the leading national spokesman on the issue of appearance and performance enhancing drug use by our nation’s youth. He has spoken directly to several hundred thousand people across the US and Canada, appeared as an expert witness before Congress on three occasions, regularly meets with Federal Government officials, has met with several governors, and spoken to multiple state legislatures. In addition, he has appeared on a number of national and international TV and radio programs to discuss this important topic.For his work in this field, Don was named Texas Sports Personality of the Year in 2005 by the Dallas Morning News and was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Sports Educators in America by the Institute for International Sports. Most recently, he was selected to receive the Distinguished Service Award by the United States Sports Academy.Prior to forming the foundation, Don had a successful 33-year career in the telecommunications software business.Don and his wife Gwen live in McKinney, TX, have been married for 35 years, and are the proud parents of two children, Mackenzie and Donald, and have three grandchildren:  Taylor, Aidan, and Avery.

Donald Hooton, Jr.

Vice President – Education Programs

Donald serves as the VP of Education Programs for the Taylor Hooton Foundation. In this capacity, Donald leads the effort to drive our education programs into high schools, middle schools, and universities across the US and Canada. Also, he helps insure that our messages are current and relevant to today’s young people and their adult influencers.He along with his father and other family members founded the charity in 2004 just one year after the loss of his brother. He is committed to eradicating appearance and performance enhancing drug use among teens/young adults and serving as a spokesperson and role model as we fight this dangerous issue.As a graduate (with honors) of Gwynedd-Mercy College with emphasis in Business Administration, Donald’s professional experience includes a successful career in the Real Estate and Mortgage industry.

Kyle Purdy

Vice President – Corporate Business Development

Kyle Purdy leads the effort to build relationships with corporations that are interested in helping us drive our anti-APEDs messages into schools across America and Canada.A University of Texas grad, Kyle has spent the past 25+ years in senior management roles with some of the largest advertising and marketing companies in the world, including DDB, EuroRSCG and Publicis, and has helped lead well-known brands such as P&G, Pepsico, Anheuser-Busch and Saturn Corporation. He’s won multiple awards for advertising campaigns, promotional events and corporate partnership programs.Kyle has been married to his wife Carla for 15 years and they have a 12-year-old daughter Caroline. In his spare time, he’s an avid cyclist, a youth volleyball and basketball coach through the YMCA and a member of the Rotary Club of Dallas.

Phil Shryock

Director of Marketing and Development

Phil Shryock is the Director of Marketing and Development for the Taylor Hooton Foundation. Phil’s responsibilities include the design, development, operations and implementation of the Taylor Hooton Foundation’s online Hoot’s Chalk Talk e-Learning programs. Phil also provides overall marketing support for the e-Learning programs. Prior to joining the Taylor Hooton Foundation, Phil worked in the Telecommunications industry for over 30 years. As a product manager and marketing manager at Hewlett Packard, Phil was responsible for developing and implementing go-to-market plans for multi-million dollar products there were sold into global markets. Phil is also a retiree from GTE. At GTE, Phil’s responsibilities included computer center operations and management, system, and application development. Additionally he managed several organizations including a large group of management and technical personnel responsible for operating and maintaining the largest telecommunications signaling network in the United States.Phil attended the Lexington Technical Institute and the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. He and his wife Judy, who has been married to for 40 years, currently reside in Conroe, TX. Phil and Judy are proud parents and grandparents. Their daughter Kim and granddaughter Lily reside in Pearland, TX.

Clint Faught

Educational Program Manager

Clint leads the efforts of the Taylor Hooton Foundation as the Educational Program Manager to schedule Hoot’s Chalk Talks into our nation’s high schools, middle schools, universities, and many other organizations. He is a former collegiate baseball player, playing at the University of Texas at Arlington and Missouri Western State University as a pitcher and a third baseman. He has always prided himself on building relationships and maintaining them over the years.Prior to joining the Taylor Hooton Foundation, Clint worked in the mortgage industry as a loan officer helping borrowers to refinance their mortgage loan or helping them to purchase a new home. In his free time he enjoys playing golf and spending time with family and friends.Clint has a bachelor’s degree from Missouri Western State University in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and resides in Fort Worth, TX. His wife, Kim, has been a registered nurse for five years and they have one beautiful daughter named Riley.

Brian Parker

Educational Program Manager

Brian’s role with the Foundation is to assist with the development and promotion of Hoot’s Chalk Talk programs throughout North America – to schools, universities, professional associations, and other venues. Prior to joining the Taylor Hooton Foundation, Brian worked in Minor League Baseball with the Atlanta Braves organization as well as the Durham Bulls. As a lifelong fan of sports, Brian is committed to ensuring the education of the youth in the US and in Canada about the dangers of Appearance and Performance Enhancing Drugs.Brian obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from Elon University and currently resides in Charlotte, NC.
