Excerpts from The coach did it: disgraced shot-putter had food ‘dusted’ with steroids by Brisbane Times.
Winning a gold medal at the Olympics is a feeling that can’t be explaining. When you win an Olympic medal, no one can ever take that accolade from you. Unless you were doping. That is what happened to Belarusian shot putter Nadzeya Ostapchuk. BUt what makes this case different is that she never even knew she was taking steroids, her coach had been giving them to her without her knowledge.
Disgraced Belarusian shot-putter Nadzeya Ostapchuk has handed back her Olympic gold medal as her former coach admits to doping her food without her knowledge.
As disgraceful as it is to use steroids, it’s even more disgraceful to give them to others without their knowledge. Now, because of this coaches arrogance, an athlete’s lifetime of hard work is invalidated. She will also receive a one-year ban from competing, while her coach received a four year ban. There seem to be rumblings of a bigger storyline in this case, but the fact remains that an athlete was given steroids without their knowledge.
If you are the parent of athlete, ensure that you’re familar with the signs of steroids.Social tagging: anabolic steroids > banned substances > cheat > doping > drugs > track and field
