Joakim Noah: 20-Game PED Suspension

Now that Joakim Noah has been cleared by doctors to play, he can officially begin not playing.

The Knicks center’s 20-game suspension for taking a banned substance starts Wednesday, the NBA said.

Noah, 32, has not played since Feb. 4 due to a knee injury. The NBA said when it announced the ban that it would begin with the “first NBA regular season or playoff game for which he is eligible and physically able to play.”

Arizona Wildcats guard Allonzo Trier ‘shocked’ by positive PED test

Suspended Arizona Wildcats guard Allonzo Trier said Wednesday night he was “shocked” to have tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug, and remains unsure when he will play again because the drug must be completely out of his system.

Trier was responding via a UA statement to an ESPN.com story citing unnamed sources that said he tested positive for a PED in September and won an appeal, but that the NCAA hasn’t allowed him to play until the drug is completely out of his system.

N.B.A. to Test Players for H.G.H. Starting Next Season

The N.B.A. announced Thursday that it would expand its antidrug program next season to include blood tests for human growth hormone. The league said testing would begin this year in preseason training camp.

Commissioner Adam Silver has said that there was no reason to believe that the use of steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs was common in the N.B.A., and only a handful of players have tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in recent years under the league’s urine-testing program.… Continue Reading...

NBA Player suspended 20 games: steroids

The NBA announced Wednesday that Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu has been suspended 20 games without pay for violating the NBA's anti-drug program. Turkoglu tested positive for methenolone, an anabolic steroid.

Hedo Turkoglu was suspended 20 games for violating the NBA's drug policy.

Turkoglu explained his positive test in a statement released by the Magic.

"While I was back home in Turkey this past summer, I was given a medication by my trainer to help recover more quickly from a shoulder injury," Turkoglu said.… Continue Reading...
