Apparently, some athletes never learn . . . . .
According to sources ofÂ
Patrick Moran of buffalosportsdaily.com, Bills linebacker Shawne Merriman was recently caught with steroid possession.
According to a reliable source close to the situation, Buffalo Bills linebacker Shawne Merriman was busted for carrying steroids near the United States border late Thursday night, July 28 on the eve of Bills' training camp.
Moran said that he's been sitting on this story for weeks but wanted to make sure that it was accurate before releasing it. He also took to Twitter to prove that he did not make this story up, and that is the truth.
If I'm intentionally fabricating a story for attention, may my 8-year old get hit by a car.. Those who know me know better than that. And that's all I'm saying about it, period.
Here are the details of what happened according to Moran's source.
While trying to cross Canada back into the United States, Merriman was detained  by United States Customs shortly after 2:00am. There, the source tells me steroids were found in his possession. He was not arrested and booked because from what I'm told, simply being in the possession of the substance is not technically illegal.
Now there's no proof that Merriman is taking steroids, but considering Merriman's past it's likely that he is. Back in 2006, Merriman was suspended for four games for violating the NFL's steroids and related substances policy after he tested positive for steroids.
Moran said, that he "can't and won't speculate if Merriman has actually taken steroids anytime recently" but his source says that Merriman was caught with steroids in his possession. This can't go over well for Merriman considering his past. I'd assume that the NFL will want to talk to Merriman about this, and will want to have a drug test.
