A POTENTIALLY dangerous steroid-like drug commonly used to treat asthma in horses is increasingly being used by young Australians, looking to either put on muscle or cut fat, with researchers recording an 800 per cent increase in hospital admissions in recent years.

Staff at two Sydney hospitals report increasing numbers of people are taking the drug clenbuterol despite the fact it is not approved for use by humans and is normally prescribed by vets.
