William Tyler Thrift, who had been the target of an investigation of illegal steroids, was arrested late Tuesday night (February 12) by Friendswood Police.
Chief Robert Wieners said Thrift used to live in Friendswood and had likely been operating in the greater Clear Lake area.
He gave officers a Houston address when he was stopped in the 700 block of E. NASA Parkway.
There, police seized 200 grams of liquid steroids and 140 vials of HGH.
Wieners said the substances have a street value of about $500,000.
Thrift, 24, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3 with Intent to Deliver > 400 g.
After being booked into the Friendswood Jail, he was transferred to the Harris County Jail.
His bond is set at $350,000.
"The high bond is an indicator that he was clearly a major player in the trafficking of steroids," Wieners said.
